Chocopalooza: Valentine’s Day 2012

I don’t know where my brain has been hiding these days.

In fact, I’m starting to think that it has burrowed down in the dirt like a groundhog for six more weeks of winter.

Walking into rooms, only to forget what I was looking for. Letting my stand mixer whip cake batter to a dry, overbeaten pulp. Forgetting to watch the weekly episode of “Four Weddings.” Honestly, I just don’t know what’s happening to me.

Although the whole forgetting to watch “Four Weddings” might be a good thing, because all the shots of yummy wedding food always send me diving for a bowl of snacks to munch along with the guests.

The point of the matter is, my brain’s decided to go on spring break waaay earlier than I had planned, which means that I completely forgot to tell you guys about the absolute chocolate downpour that was my Valentine’s Day.

To start off, my mom gave my sister and I a lovely, lovely collection of Jacques Torres chocolate goodies, from a deliciously decadent hot chocolate mix…

…to gigantic chocolate chip cookies that I swear are made with layers of thin slabs of chocolate rather than simple chips…

…to cute, chocolate-covered cheerios.

On February 14th itself, I got some b-e-a-yoootiful flowers from my dad…

roses

…as well as a few other chocolate-y surprises…

Now, before you go thinking that I just sit around, inhaling huge boxes of chocolates, this collection was for my mom, my sister, and I to share.

We treasure boxes of chocolates the way some people treasure diamonds.

Now that I’ve gushed to you all about my sugar high of a Valentine’s Day, tell me—how did you celebrate??

Woah, lucky! That last photo of the chocs is stunning. Hooray for lovely parents. 🙂 I am very much with you on the chocolate > diamonds thing.

I didn't celebrate Valentines Day this year. I spent the evening writing an essay! So alooone. The best thing I ever did was go to an insect exhibition at the museum (!), followed by cocktails and Mexican food. That was fun!

Sounds like a great Valentines to me! My husband took me out to dinner at Carrabba's…then back home to have some Woodhouse Chocolates.

Ohh Koci! What an absolute lovely mum you have. Hope college is going swell for you. I celebrated Heart-day with a surprise Reiki treatment, my boyfriend organized and a dinner in. Look forward to more of your posts and stories. 🙂
