Daring Bakers’ Challenge: Biscuit Joconde Imprime/Entremet

Oh dear.

This is distressing.

I can’t even explain this.

It was supposed to say “Ooh la la.”

The January 2011 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Astheroshe of the blog accro. She chose to challenge everyone to make a Biscuit Joconde Imprime to wrap around an Entremets dessert.

Suffice it to say, things did not go according to plan. I’m sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that I haphazardly threw this together yesterday, while also writing an English essay and working on a project on senator fund-raising schemes for Government. Nope, not at all.

Let’s just say a time management lesson has been learned and move on with our lives. Besides, I’m currently in history class and missing out on the Romanovs.

    Although this might not have turned out the way you wanted, it looks absolutely delicious to me!!! I would gladly eat any and all of your baking mishaps. 🙂

    The swirls around the outside are still lovely!

    Anyone that references the Princess Bride wins bonus points in my book. 🙂 Sorry the challenge didn't turn out quite like you'd hoped, but I hope it tasted good! You were certainly busy, so I'd say total win on even completing it, no matter what happened.

    Oh my goodness your captions made me laugh so hard. Sorry your joconde didn't work out and hold up as planned. But I can clearly see your intentions and they were beautiful!

    Noooooo, don't be distressed. It's a shame it didn't work out as you'd hoped, but it looks DELICIOUS and I love your beautifully looping Ooh La La. Gorgeous piping. I would have made exactly the same mistake if I'd chosen a design that needed flipping over.

    The chocolatey goodness from inside looks amazing. I want to eat it so much. I keep scrolling back just to look at it. Mmmm.

    Still looks yummy–I'm drooling over the chocolate sliding down with all the chocolatey ooze…yum!

    It does say ohh lala, just… backwards LOL.

    Even though it might not look how you intended, it still looks tasty!

    @Kristen: haha Thanks! I must admit, I did munch a bit during the photography process.

    @Becky: Thank you!

    @Shelley: Princess Bride rocks! 😀 Even if this cake was a bit on the disastrous side, I am glad to have learned something new.

    @Stacie: Aw, thanks! 😀

    @Suzler: It's those danged mirror images! If only I had paid attention in Geometry class.

    Regarding the chocolate-y filling…there may have been some savage spoon attacks at some point shortly after these photos were taken. 😀

    @Kay: hehehe Isn't that movie the greatest?

    @Cake Duchess: Thanks! This challenge was a toughie!

    @Chef_d: hahaha I guess it is pretty hard to ruin something as yummy as chocolate. 😀

    @Dana: Thanks!

    Well it still looks fantastic! I remembered to do the writing the wrong way round just in time. Unfortunately everything else went wrong for me.
    It's good fun, though!

    Don't feel bad! I had the same problems too. My joconde fell into pieces and would not stand up 🙁
    it was a total failure but I had fun and I'm so so so going to try this again with all the tips I've read around the blogsphere. It's important that we tried, right? and it still looks really good!
